On behalf of our Gold Star Families in Hampton Roads, thanks so much to the Pilots, the Patriot Guard Riders, and our SOS support team for a wonderful evening to honor and remember our heroes and their sacrifice.
Though the Pilots lost a thriller 4-3 in the ninth inning, more than 50 GS family members will fondly recall this evening. The turnout, despite the earlier rain storms, was great. Along with more than 50 GS family members, about 12 PGRs and seven bikes, the SOS team, MG May, Commander of initial Training country wide and Col Galbraith, Commander of the Mission Support Group at JBEL attended. The public affairs office promised many photos of that special evening. There were about 2000 fans in attendance to support GS families before the game, and view photos of our fallen while singing "God Bless America" in the seventh inning.
In talking with the Pilots after the game, it was agreed to make this an annual event, perhaps near July 4th and combined with Military Appreciation Night. Look for those details next summer.
Thanks for coming and special thanks to the Pilot Family for again showing how much you really support our military and our Fallen Heroes.
In Memory of Our Son,
1LT Todd William Weaver (KIA 9.9.2010)
